THE FRAME The adventurer Sardinha 3 Ti is designed to run autonomously on dirt tracks for many days, with the safety, comfort and convenience offered by a double butted TITANIUM Ti3Al2.5V tubing frame and modern safety geometry thanks to the head tube angle and the short chainstays. Many travellers have tested the prototypes and agree in highlighting the incredible comfort of its geometry, how well it climbs and how confident it is, even in difficult descents. The frame can accommodate plus wheels for extra traction and flotation: 27.5 "+ up to 3.0" and 29" + up to 2.6". You can mount it with a rigid fork or a suspension fork with 100/120 mm of travel. The frame is prepared to fit all types of supports, bags, saddlebags and accessories you can imagine. THE KUTXO CARBON FORK This rigid fork in CARBON is engineered for our Nordest Sardinha 3 frame and is compatible with any frame designed for 100 mm to 120mm travel fork, can accommodate a 29 x 2.6″ tire with ease, and is the perfect choice for many 29er frames. It will be able to choose between two Rake positions: 44mm or 51mm. The brake support is postmount mount type 160mm. Guide rails are available to install a disc brake, as well as holes for front rack mounting and Three-Pack on both sides of the fork. And holes to internal routing cable electric cable. QR 15×110 thru-axle included with the fork. ----- ORIGIN OF THE SARDINHA NAME One of the ancient occupations of the inhospitable Nordeste (Portugal) was that of the almocreves; austere merchants who carried their saddlebags with goods to supply the Trasmontanos from village to village. One of the typical products they carried was sardinhas (sardines). Very famous also outside the country, the Portuguese sardinhas travelled through Trás-os-Montes countless times on the back of pack animals led by the almocreves. We have been inspired by these noble merchants to design the Nordest Sardinha 3, a bikepacking created to go to the end of the world (and come back in one piece). Here the philosophy is to enjoy every pedalling, to discover the landscape and the people that the trip offers us, to contemplate the stars in some remote place, and the next morning to roll up the sleeping bag to continue the adventure. GIMONDE, Where Rivers and Trade Converge

Nestled in the heart of Trás-os-Montes, just a few kilometres from Bragança, the small village of Gimonde occupies a privileged place in both the geography and the collective memory of this austere yet generous land. Its location is no accident: the village sits at the confluence of two rivers, the Sabor and the Onor, whose waters meet in a natural embrace that for centuries made this corner of the world an inevitable landmark for all who travelled the roads of the northeastern transmontane region.

That quality of being a river crossroads made Gimonde something far greater than a simple stopping point. For generations, it was the great gathering place of the almocreves — the muleteers and itinerant traders who rode from village to village across the comarca, bringing door to door the goods that the people of the interior could scarcely obtain any other way. Before setting out on their routes through the mountains and valleys of the region, the almocreves would meet in Gimonde to stock up on sardines, the most prized and most sought-after item in their trade. There they loaded their baskets and saddlebags, agreed on prices and mapped out their routes, and steeled themselves for the days of hard travel that lay ahead.

From that deeply rooted custom grew an expression that became etched into the everyday speech of the whole area. When an almocreve took his leave of family or neighbours before heading out to earn his keep, he would say, with a mixture of resolve and quiet resignation: "Vou para Gimonde ganhar-me a vida" — "I'm off to Gimonde to earn my living." The phrase said everything: Gimonde was not a place of rest, but a point of departure, the threshold from which the daily struggle to survive began in a land of harsh winters and fragile livelihoods.

Among the villages that looked to Gimonde as an essential waypoint, Carção stood out — a hamlet further north, in the municipality of Vimioso. For its inhabitants, the road to Bragança or to the markets of the comarca passed inevitably through Gimonde. It was the place to pause, to drink cool water from the river, to exchange news and learn what was happening in the neighbouring villages. In a time without telephones or paved roads, Gimonde quietly fulfilled the indispensable role of a hub of human connection.

You can build your bike at your convenience, or choose the options we recommend in our kits.
