One of the ancient occupations of the inhospitable Nordeste (Portugal) was that of the almocreves; austere merchants who carried their saddlebags with goods to supply the Trasmontanos from village to village.
One of the typical products they carried was sardinhas (sardines). Very famous also outside the country, the Portuguese sardinhas travelled through Tras-os-Montes countless times on the back of pack animals led by the almocreves.

FRAME

We have been inspired by these noble merchants to design the Nordest Sardinha 2, a bikepacking created to go to the end of the world (and come back in one piece). Here the philosophy is to enjoy every pedalling, to discover the landscape and the people that the trip offers us, to contemplate the stars in some remote place, and the next morning to roll up the sleeping bag to continue the adventure.
The Nordest Sardinha 2 is a machine to taste kilometers, comfortably, without haste, without problems, with our baggage well secured and weights distributed optimally, keeping low the center of gravity.
The adventurer Sardinha 2 is designed to run autonomously on dirt tracks for many days, with the safety, comfort and convenience offered by a double butted CRMO 4130 tubing frame and modern safety geometry thanks to the head tube angle and the short chainstays. Many travellers have tested the prototypes and agree in highlighting the incredible comfort of its geometry, how well it climbs and how confident it is, even in difficult descents.
The frame can accommodate plus wheels for extra traction and flotation: 27.5er+ 3.0″, 29er 2.6″. With regard to the fork, we propose a rigid chromoly steel fork matching the frame, but you can also install a 100/120 mm travel suspension fork.
The Sardinha is prepared to fit all types of supports, bags, saddlebags and accessories you can imagine.

The frame

With nearly 600 frames sold in two years and in 46 countries, the first version of the Bardino has positioned itself among the best hardtail enduro frames of all time. Champion of the Finnish Hardtail Enduro Cup and with several podiums in other countries, it has been chosen by many as the frame for everything and everyone, experts or beginners in the most radical mountain bike.

The new Nordest Bardino 2 hardtail enduro frame design by Pedro Jerónimo is the evolution demanded by the market and seeks to put itself back at the forefront of the speciality. The surgical changes, just where our customers requested it, aims to further improve the model’s climbing capabilities and transfer more weight to the front wheel, thus getting extra support in the front wheel.

And how did we do that? Very simple: with the same short 425mm chainstays for 29er 2.6″ maximum tyres, a 75º seat tube angle, increased reach in all sizes for the same position on the frame with 40mm stem and 64,5º head tube angle for 160mm forks with 20% SAG. Small changes that will delight many riders!

We have also developed for this model a new design for the yoke, made in CNC and visually integrated in the right chainstay.

Tested to the limit by riders from different countries, part of its development has taken place in Zone Zero Ainsa, Portugal, Ireland and Finland over the last year.

The frame is manufactured in CRMO 4130 double butted tubing, with an advanced study of geometry designed by Nordest, has been tested by riders with excellent results in all conditions. FOR 31.6mm seat post with internal cable routing.

Designed for a 160 mm front suspension travel (allows from 140 mm to 170 mm) and compatible with 27.5er x 3″ or 29er x 2.6″ wheels, the safety in descents and cornering is simply incredible.

The frame is sold loose or in kit with the fork FOX 36 FACTORY GRIP2 KASHIMA or MARZOCCHI Z1 BOMBER, always with 160mm travel, and with Cane Creek 40 headset also included..

The frame includes the seat post clamp, dropouts and rear thru-axle 12x148mm.

In September 2017 we presented the Nordest Sardinha prototypes in the 4th 48th HOUR OVERNIGHT CAMP (S48O) of PORTUGAL BIKEPACKING, we had time to test the prototypes and plan small improvements for the definitive model. With great enthusiasm, we took a couple of bicycles and set up the stand at the foot of the Castle, which was lent to us by the guys of 2cycling.com, ready to participate in the festive atmosphere that was breathed there. The race had 5 timed sections, in which the falls were not missing.

For our part we enjoyed every moment, we met old friends and enthusiasts of enduro with whom we exchanged all kinds of impressions.

Based on the proven Nordest Bardino’s geometry, the new Nordest Lacrau Ti hosts the 9 or 12-speed Pinion gearbox which allows you to use either a traditional transmission chain or a non-lubricated belt drive.

This is an impressive Enduro MTB, very reliable and almost maintenance free. Its sealed gearbox brings comfort and reliability to an already proven set.

The Nordest Lacrau is manufactured in TITANIUM Ti3Al2.5V double butted tubing.
